Change of Guard Ceremony

It is a military tradition performed by the Army Guard & the President’s Bodyguards (PBG).

Ceremony begins with the tune of “Maa Tujhe Salaam” which is played by the Army Brass Band. PBG troops advance from behind the Jaipur column.

After this the Army Guard contingent then marches in and the new guard replaces the old guard.

The ceremony ends with the President’s Bodyguards (PBG) riding on horses march towards Rashtrapati Bhavan with the National Anthem Playing.


What is Digi Yatra initiative?

Just show your face and the facial recognition technology will identify you and you are free to enter any airport in the country. This is called Digi yatra, unveiled by Ministry of Civil Aviation.

Aims on complete departure from paper identification for a hassle free air travel. Its a onetime verification at the departure airport for the first time using a government recognized id.

When successful verification is done, facial recognition biometric would be taken and stored in the Digi Yatra ID. Then your face can get you entry at the airports.

This facility would be operational by February 2019.


Swachh SurvekshanGrameen  Award 2018

National Swachh SurvekshanGrameen 2018 award  was given to top ranked state & district and State with maximum citizen participation.

Prime Minister gave award to the recepient states and district.

Haryana was top ranked state and Satara District of Maharashtra was ranked as the best district as per the ranking undertaken by Swachh SurvekshanGrameen 2018.

For maximum citizens’ participation  Uttar Pradesh got the award.

Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation launched the Swachh Survekshan Grameen 2018.

Ranking is given on the basis of quantitative and qualitative sanitation (Swachhata) parameters.

 This ranking was done based on a comprehensive set of parameters including surveys of public places like schools, Anganwadis, PHCs, Haat/ Bazaars, Panchayat and citizen’s perception of Swachhata and their recommendations for improvement of the program and data from the Swachh Bharat Mission-Grameen(SBM-G).


Minimum Support Prices (MSPs)

Giving a boost to farmers’ income, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has approved the increase in the Minimum Support Prices (MSPs) for all Rabi crops for 2018-19 to be marketed in 2019-20 season.

Who declares and who prepares MSP

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA), Government of India, determines the Minimum Support Prices (MSP) of various agricultural commodities in India based on the recommendations of the Commission for Agricultural Cost and Prices (CACP).


 Champions of Earth Award 2018

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi honored with Champions of Earth Award 2018 for Policy Leadership by UN Secretary General, Mr. Antonio Guterres.

The award was conferred at a ceremony held at Pravasi Bharatiya Kendra.

Champions of the Earth is the highest UN honour given in the field of environment.

The award is given to persons from public and private sector and also to civil society for the actions performed by them which brought a positive impact and a healthy transformation on environment.

Launched in 2005, the award is given in five categories.

They are:

  1. Policy Leadership, 
  2. Action and Inspiration,
  3. Science & Innovation,
  4. Entrepreneurial Vision,
  5. Lifetime Achievement

Government of India and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) sign $100 Million Loan Agreement

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Government of India signed a $100 Million Loan Agreement in New Delhi.

The agreement was signed to continuing expansion of sewerage and drainage coverage, provide sewage treatment and strengthen capacity of Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) for resilient urban services.

ADB & GoI also signed $240 Million Loan to Provide Safe Drinking Water Service in 3 West Bengal Districts.

Over reliance on groundwater puts most of the rural population in West Bengal at risk of various disease. 

Arsenic and fluoride contamination from ground water can lead to health problems including cancer and bone diseases.

The project aims to mitigate these risks through provision of continuous potable water through metered connections.

Another Loan agreement signed between Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Government of India for a Global skills park set to establish in Madhya Pradesh.

It is a $150 million loan agreement to establish a Global Skills Park (GSP) in Madhya Pradesh, the First Multi-Skills Park in India.

This agreement will help to enhance the quality of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) System in the State and create a more skilled workforce.


SIDBI launches a National Level Entrepreneurship Awareness Campaign, Udyam Abhilasha

A National Level Entrepreneurship Awareness Campaign, Udyam Abhilasha (उद्यम अभिलाषा) launched by Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI), in 115 Aspirational Districts.

These districts are identified by NITI Aayog. It was Launched on 2nd October 2018, the Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

SIDBI has partnered with CSC e-Governance Services India Limited, a Special Purpose Vehicle, (CSC SPV) set up by the Ministry of Electronics & IT, Govt. of India for implementing the campaign through their CSCs.

The objectives of the missionary campaign includes:-

  • to inspire rural youth in aspirational districts to be entrepreneurs by assisting them to set up their own enterprise,
  • to impart trainings through digital medium across the country,
  • to create business opportunities for CSC VLEs,
  • To focus on women aspirants in these aspirational districts to encourage women entrepreneurship and
  • To assist participants to become bankable and avail credit facility from banks to set up their own enterprise.

Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI), is the Principal Financial Institution for the Promotion, Financing, Development and Coordination of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME) sector.
